COVID-19 Update from Governor Beshear

Kentucky State Press Conference Summary: 4/10 – 4/13

April 13:  Drive-thru COVID testing began today in Frankfort. Kroger is teaming with Kentucky in effort to test 20,000 people statewide over the next 5 weeks. Kroger will provide the PPE, staff and sign-up portal. Testing is free. Visit www.thelittleclinic.com/drivethru-testing or call 888.852.2567 to see if you are eligible.

Testing will run Monday thru Thursday from 10 am-4 pm and will test only those individuals who present with COVID symptoms (cough, fever, shortness of breath or diarrhea) and who are:

  • Priority 1 – health care workers
  • Priority 2 – first responders (EMT, fire, law enforcement), individuals 65 years of age or older, individuals who have a chronic health condition (heart disease, lung disease, or an immune system-lowering condition like diabetes)
  • Priority 3 – individuals who do not have high-risk factors but have active symptoms

Gravity Diagnostics will provide results within 48 hours. Beginning Wednesday April 15, an additional site will be added in Kenton County.

April 10:  An order was issued on mass gatherings. Individuals who participate in a mass gathering of any type, state police will record license plate numbers and provide it to the local health department. The health department will come to your door with an order for you to be quarantined for 14 days. This order may be extended based on what they are seeing.

Remember to complete your census. This will help determine where federal money is distributed and will help Kentucky rebound faster.

The Governor continues to call on manufacturers to help with the production of PPE (www.giveppe.ky.gov – 833.448.3773)

  • N95 face masks/respirators
  • Face shields
  • Latex free gloves
  • Oxygen concentrators
  • Procedural & surgical masks
  • Disposable gowns, foot coves, surgical caps
  • Drop off at any KY state police post

The Governor's office is working with local health departments on a list of addresses of individuals who have tested positive and are quarantined at home. This list will be made available to first responders when going on calls. This helps them know the level of PPE they may need.
