Leadership Conference Update: HR & Marijuana Focus
Human Relations has a constant presence in the workplace with ever-changing policies, so it is always a great addition to our annual Leadership Conference. This year, we welcome PIA’s Vice President of Human Resources, Adriane Harrison, to speak at our Leadership Conference on Sunday, September 15th.
Adriane brings HR experience, as well as a broad knowledge of regulatory and legal interpretation to help navigate the complicated landscape of labor and employment law. She holds an undergraduate degree in Journalism from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a law degree from DePaul University in Chicago.
The most sought-after HR service is helping companies with day-to-day issues, many that executives or HR managers are facing for the first time. These inquires can involve complicated health scenarios that require addressing a myriad of regulations, such as those of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and others. Staffing your company with reliable, skilled employees is harder than ever, and Adriane will provide suggestions for finding new, and the right, employees.
Many new regulations have been taking effect, including the recent legalization of medical marijuana in Ohio, and the introduction of a legalization bill in Kentucky. Many companies are unsure of the best ways to manage employee use and what rights are protected under the new legislature. Adriane has extensively researched what this means for print companies and has detailed precautions to take regarding this matter. In this era of legalized marijuana and an ongoing opioid crisis, how can companies manage employees that may be using these or other drugs? Learn how to recognize impairment and implement policies that may reduce risk and create a safer work environment.
