In Memoriam of Jason Basch

In the words of Association President, Jim Cunningham

I am a very fortunate person and have the privilege of working with an incredible group of industry members and friends. It is not unusual for me to have the opportunity to share good news with members and friends, but unfortunately it is also necessary at times to share bad news and that is exactly the case today.

As many of you know we all lost a young and rising star in the industry this week with the passing of Jason Basch.

Please see the attached obituary for information on his services on Sunday.

Jason along with his dad (Jim), and Jim's partner Greg Davis ran Fine Line Graphics for a number of years and Jason moved to Hopkins Printing when Fine Line closed down. I first met Jason at Fine Line 7-8 years ago and enjoyed his fresh perspective on many things, industry related or more often on sports, OSU, golf, everything going on in the world.

One of Jason’s most memorable attributes in my mind was how he was always looking out for other people. Earlier this year I received an email from him about someone he had met at work and he was concerned the individual may not be receiving his pension. He asked if we could look into it. We all hope that people would step up to help in situations like this, but with Jason you didn’t have to hope, you knew he would help whenever he could. And he was not afraid to appropriately push until he found the solution. Which in this case, he did.

I will greatly miss seeing Jason at our events and sharing with me his opinion about who deserves to win the “People’s Choice Award,” or explain (giving excuses) why his golf team didn’t win the Association Annual event. He was always a breath of fresh air and way too young to lose. Rest in peace Jason.
