Digital Print Machine Operator (4 positions)

Location: Wolverine Solutions Group, 1601 Clay, Detroit, MI 48211-1913

Position Summary: The Digital Print Machine Operator will produce printed objects and materials using assigned printing machinery to ensure quality and production standards are meet.  Works cooperatively with manager/supervisor and client service representatives to achieve maximum production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Reviews job tickets or receives oral instructions to determine work assignment for shift.
  • Sets up jobs to begin production i.e. loading paper, aligning, and configuring machinery.
  • Perform daily production requirements according to job specifications and samples provided, verifying counts and materials.
  • Enters job processing information into corporate MIS system for production records at the beginning and end of a job.
  • Enter commands into computer to start and operate production.
  • Inspects printed materials during production for defects such as creases, tears, smears, streaks, etc.
  • Troubleshoots issues with printing machine and makes basic repairs.
  • Communicates with supervisors to verify job accuracy, spoilage, production problems, concerns and completion of assignment.
  • Separates, sorts, and distributes printed material to proper departments when production is to be processed internally. Externally, completes documentation for shipment to outside customer location.
  • Maintains and/or retrieves inventory of supplies needed for machine operation.
  • Perform routine cleaning of assigned equipment and surrounding area.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Associates degree or completion of related apprenticeship program preferred or High school diploma with 1 year of related experience.
  • Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Computer literate, able to work with basic Windows computer application (startup, shutdown, point and click, read and understand data presented on screen).
  • Flexible and willing to learn the operation of several pieces of equipment.
  • Good organizational skills.

*Production hours:

2 FT Positions:  10 Hour Shifts, Thursday – Sunday:  2:00 pm – 12:30 am & 12:00 am – 10:30 am

2 PT Positions:  10 Hour Shifts, Saturday & Sunday:  8:00 am – 8:30 pm & 8:00 pm – 6:30 am
